Ballantine Ale is an American beer brewed by P. Ballantine and Sons Brewing Company, founded in Newark, New Jersey. On the show it is Martin Crane's beer of choice, a no-frills working-class staple that serves as a running contrast to Frasier and Niles' wine snobbery. Note: this is unrelated to Ballantine's Scotch whisky, which is a separate brand.
